Meet your Pet Stylist

My name is Ashley and I am a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park where I received my Bachelor's in Animal Care and Management.

I have over 5 years experience in Companion Animal Care along with 1.5 years of pet grooming experience. Furthermore, I am a board member of the Maryland Professional Pet Grooming Association! At MDPPGA, we work to unite professional groomers to promote high standards of care through continuing education, community building, and advocating for the pet grooming industry.

In addition to my professional work, I have hands-on experience in dog training and service-dog advocacy. I volunteered with Fidos for Freedom in Laurel, MD, helping to educate the community about the vital role service dogs play and the importance of accessibility. During my four years at the University of Maryland, I also trained a service dog named Sparky (featured at the top of this page), who is now in the final stage of his training. He works with clients every Wednesday as he prepares to change someone’s life for the better. I am so proud of my Mr. Sparkles!

Client Reviews

“Ashley came to our house this week to groom two Bernedoodles and a Westie. She did a phenomenal job and best of all my dogs really liked her. Her rates were very reasonable and she is professional.”

- Karla A.

“Ashley came to my apartment today for the first time to trim the nails of my two 8 month old kittens. She is delightful, very good with animals, and did a fantastic job. They were totally chill afterwards - not at all anxious as I was afraid they would be. I highly recommend her!”

- Jane M.

“Ashley did such an amazing job grooming my old Lab. I was worried he’d be too grumpy for a bath, but she was so patient and gentle with him. He looks like a brand-new dog and smells incredible! We'll definitely be booking with her again!”

-Sam L.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I typically have a 1-2 week lead time for appointments. However, my schedule can be fluid, so feel free to check in via the Contact Form.

I occasionally have same-week availability due to cancellations or shifts in my route.

  • I bring most of the professional equipment needed!

I generally just need access to a sink, bathtub, or shower along with an electrical outlet for my dryer. I take care of the cleanup in the grooming area before I leave.

  • Timing depends on your dog’s size, coat condition, and temperament. On average, a full-service groom takes between 1.5 to 3 hours.

However, conditions like matting, physical limitations of the pet, and behavioral issues may cause the groom to last longer or be cut short due to safety concerns.

Safety always takes priority over completing the groom.

  • For the first appointment, I require owners to be present so we can discuss your pet’s needs, style preferences, and medical history.

Then, depending on your' pet’s medical concerns, your comfort level, and mine, customers can arrange an appointment where I groom your pet while you’re at work or running errands.

For unattended appointments, a formal consultation is required to establish a secure entry and exit protocol. This will include specific instructions for entering your home, pet handling, post-groom pet containment, and total home security upon my departure.

  • The beauty of in-home grooming is that it’s much calmer than a salon.

If your dog is nervous, I take a slow, fear-free approach to build trust.

However, for the safety of both your pet and myself, I cannot groom dogs with a history of severe aggression.

If you're unsure, let's chat about your dog’s specific triggers first!

  • Matting occurs when hair tangles into tight knots close to the skin, which can be painful and trap moisture or bacteria.

Removing mats requires extra time, specialized tools, and extreme caution to avoid nicking the skin.

If the matting is severe, a "shave-down" may be the only humane option.

This up charge covers the additional labor and the significant wear and tear on my equipment due to shaving dirty coat.

  • To provide the highest level of care for your pet our training fee intertwines with our safety policy.

If at any time your pet gets nervous, anxious, scared, aggressive, or even overly silly, we slow down and help your pet to be comfortable and calm. It's very important to us that the pets in our care are kept safe and stress free.

We use sharp tools and need to prevent injuries. We will work with your pet to help them feel comfortable and train them to become a better grooming pet.

This will build great experiences for successful grooming sessions for your pet's lifetime.

Your pet may not be groomed to perfection the day of your appointment. However, we will charge for the time that we spend working with your pet.
